Tina Fey and Tim Meadows are set to reprise their roles from the 2004 comedy “Mean Girls” in the upcoming movie musical version. Jon Hamm has also been added to the cast, taking on the role of Coach Carr. The rest of the principal cast will be played by fresh faces, including Auli’i Cravalho, Reneé Rapp, Bebe Wood, Avantika Vandanapu, Christopher Briney, Angourie Rice, Jaquel Spivey, and Jenna Fischer. The music for the movie will sound more like pop than it did on Broadway.
The movie is based on the Broadway musical which was based on the original 2004 film. It follows the same plot line as the original movie, but it is unclear how closely it will stick to the script. It is being produced by Fey and “Saturday Night Live” head Lorne Michaels, and is set to debut on Paramount+. There is no word yet on a release date.
