Kirstie Alley’s Role in John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s Relationship

John Travolta and Kelly Preston first encountered one another in 1987 while auditioning for their romantic-comedy movie “The Experts.” However, it wasn’t until a few years later that they developed a romantic relationship, and this was all thanks to their friend Kirstie Alley. Alley had always wanted the two to be together, so she organized a dinner party at her house and seated them next to each other. Preston revealed on “Montel” that Travolta asked her to come back to his room after dinner, wanting to talk about something. She had recently broken up with actor Charlie Sheen, whom she was briefly engaged to in 1990. Travolta then asked her if she would like to try being a couple, to which she said yes. The couple got engaged on New Year’s Eve 1991 in Switzerland and married the following September in Paris, while Preston was already pregnant with their eldest son, Jett. Despite Alley still having feelings for Travolta, the three remained close friends.
