While this tweet may seem like a gentle way of saying sorry, it’s something the DJ could have done without in his personal life. The fact that he’s still talking shows that he’s still interested in her and wants to be there for her.
Calvin Harris is one of the biggest DJs in music history, as he has created timeless hits, including “This Is What You Came For.” While the track is a commercial success, it wasn’t a success in his personal life. After Harris and Swift broke up, the song fueled a feud after the “All Too Well” singer’s reps claimed she had written the song under the pseudonym “Nils Sjoberg,” per Variety.
This didn’t sit well with the Scottish DJ, who took to Twitter to share his side of the story. Harris began by praising his former girlfriend in now-deleted tweets, per Hello! However, the DJ’s praise quickly turned into frustration as he said, “I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially, she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.”
While Harris seemed respectful about the situation, his frustration got the best of him as he called out his former girlfriend. He said, “I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex-bf down for something to do.” And he didn’t stop there, hitting Swift where it hurts by mentioning her feud with Katy Perry. He said, “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”
