“It’s about that time,” they captioned the post. On March 17, Deadline reported that Vanessa Hudgens will reprise her role as Kelly in the franchise.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are bringing the “Bad Boys” back to town, and they’re bringing Vanessa Hudgens with them! On Jan. 31, Smith and Lawrence announced the fourth installment of the “Bad Boys” franchise with a video captioned, “IT’S ABOUT THAT TIME!” Hudgens was later confirmed to be reprising her role as Kelly in the movie on March 17 by Deadline.
The first movie in the buddy cop comedy series premiered in 1995 and was directed by Michael Bay, as was the second movie, “Bad Boys II,” which came out in 2003. The third movie, “Bad Boys 4 Life,” aired in 2020 and was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who will also be returning for the fourth installment.
The fate of the fourth “Bad Boys” movie was called into question in March 2022 when Smith slapped Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars, causing production on some of his projects to halt. However, Lawrence denied that the fourth “Bad Boys” was in any danger, telling Ebony, “We got one more at least.” Sony CEO Tom Rothman also promised that the fourth “Bad Boys” project was still moving forward in a May 2022 interview with Deadline.
Plot details for the fourth movie are being kept under wraps, but it will likely pick up where “Bad Boys 4 Life” left off. Additional cast members have not yet been confirmed and it is likely that the movie won’t be released until 2024 or 2025.
