Victoria Monét is dedicating her next hit song to all the women who love to party. The “Coastin'” singer and songwriter dropped her newest single on May 10, appropriately titled “Party Girls,” along with a vibrant music video to match her seductive summer anthem. The Meji Alabi-directed visual pays homage to classic Jamaican dancehall parties with sexy dance breaks from Monét and her troop of dancers, as the R&B songstress invites everyone to get up and groove to her hypnotizing track.
“Can’t forget about the party girls / all lighting up the world / Let’s hear it for the party girls / all lighting up the world,” she sings angelically on the hook.
Ahead of the song and video’s release, Monét told POPSUGAR she was “super excited” to drop her latest musical offering — which features dancehall legend Buju Banton — also promising that the visual would feature lots of dancing. “I haven’t done a video in a long time where it’s choreography focused,” she shares. “So this one is definitely that. I’m really excited to share that side of myself as well.”
In a press release, the singer also revealed that her new track is “an ode to women around the world who keep celebrations alive!” “If you recall any social gathering, nightlife extravaganza, or day party, you’ll likely recall a moment where a woman made it so much more exciting,” she said. “I wanted to make a song giving credit where it’s due, while simultaneously curating a sensual Caribbean-infused R&B song to continue the fun to.”
“Party Girls” comes just a few weeks after Monét returned to the music with her first single of the year, “Smoke” featuring Lucky Daye, on March 24. The mom of one’s singles are priming her to begin a new era in her solo journey as she gears up to end her project drought following 2020’s “Jaguar.”
The new RCA Records signee — known for writing hits for artists like Ariana Grande and Chloe x Halle — is slated to drop her highly anticipated album “Jaguar II” later this summer. Watch the video for “Party Girls” above and prepare to have the summer song on repeat.
