Residing in Ho Chi Minh City for the past decade, he creates videos showcasing his travel adventures, cultural insights, and culinary experiences across various regions in Vietnam.
Dustin finds Vietnamese cuisine incredibly enticing, immersing himself in a wide range of local dishes, from the typical to the more adventurous that many Westerners might shy away from.
A Journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City
His latest adventure involved cycling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, allowing him to explore numerous locations and savor regional delicacies along the way.
During his visit to Huong Khe Town in Ha Tinh, Dustin stumbled upon a tasty yet budget-friendly dish known as chao long, which is a type of pork organ congee.
While he’s familiar with popular dishes like pho and bun cha, Dustin was on the lookout for unique culinary experiences.
Although he hadn’t tried chao long before, he had tasted similar dishes such as chao luon (eel congee) and sup luon (eel soup) back in Vinh City, Nghe An province.
Delicious Discoveries and Refueling the Adventure
He was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor of the chao long. However, he noted that the congee is served hot, urging diners to savor it slowly to avoid burns.
After finishing a portion, Dustin ordered another bowl, sharing that he needed to rebuild his energy for the cycling ahead.
“I burn a lot of calories cycling every day, around 9,000 calories, so it’s essential I eat sufficiently to fuel my journey,” the 36-year-old shared.
Besides its deliciousness, he appreciated the affordability of chao long, priced at just VND25,000 per bowl.
More Than Just a YouTuber
Dustin has gained fame in Vietnam not only as a YouTuber but also as a television personality. His appearance on English-language shows on Vietnam National Television (VTV7), like ‘The Debaters’, in 2020 garnered significant attention. Previously, he co-hosted the ‘Follow Us’ program with Khanh Vy, which was nominated for the VTV Awards 2018 as the best program.
Before his ventures into hosting and creating content, he had a career in modeling, showcasing his talents during international fashion weeks in Vietnam.
