The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam recently revealed that the average on-time performance (OTP) for domestic airlines in April reached 57.5%.
Bamboo Airways led the local airlines with an impressive OTP of 80.8%. Following closely were Pacific Airlines at 80%, VASCO at 72.8%, and Vietravel Airlines at 71.5%. Vietnam Airlines achieved a 69% on-time performance, while Vietjet fell short with an OTP of just 43.3%.
The cancellation rate across the industry was 0.6% in April, showing a 0.2 percentage point increase from the prior month.
VASCO reported the highest cancellation rate at 2%, with Pacific Airlines at 1.1% and Vietravel Airlines at 1%. Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines had lower rates of 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively. Notably, Bamboo Airways achieved a perfect record with no cancellations that month.
As we approach the busy summer season from May 15 to August 15, 2025, domestic airlines are looking to operate around 68,558 flights – averaging 745 flights per day.
The capacity on domestic routes is anticipated to approach 14 million seats, marking an 18% rise compared to the summer of 2024.
Routes to popular tourist spots like Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, and Quy Nhon are projected to offer over 20,000 flights and nearly 4.1 million seats.
Additionally, the primary trunk routes – Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City – are estimated to manage about 26,800 flights, making up 39% of the total, with close to 5.9 million available seats.
