Nguyen Van Phuong, 24, from Bac Ninh, and Diem Thi Linh, 22, hailing from Bac Giang, chose to go ahead with their wedding plans in spite of extreme flooding from recent storms.
Photographer Pham Chi Ba captured stunning imagery of the event, showcasing the groom clutching his bouquet while groomsmen and guests traversed through knee-high water to reach the bride’s home. The wedding party ingeniously used a small boat to carry wedding items across the flooded streets.
“The journey to the bride’s house was long, and a substantial part was underwater,” Phuong recounted. “Even with the difficulties, everyone felt joy and excitement on this memorable day.”
Social media was awash with comments praising the couple’s resilience: remarks like “This is a wedding tale they’ll tell their grandchildren!” and “True love overcomes all, even floodwaters!” resonated widely.
In spite of the challenges posed by the floods, the groom maintained a positive outlook. “Getting married in such conditions was tough, but I feel thankful that everything went well, and I had the support of family and friends,” Phuong stated.
On the morning of September 10th, Phuong and 15 relatives traveled from his home in Yen Phong, Bac Ninh, to Bac Giang to bring the bride home.
The groom’s party had to navigate through over ten meters of water before reaching the bride’s residence, where Phuong carried Diem through the floods.
Diem, wearing a traditional ao dai, was transported through the water and only put on her wedding gown after arriving at the groom’s home.
Photographer Pham Chi Ba mentioned, “In my three years as a wedding photographer, this is the first time I’ve documented a wedding under such circumstances. I felt compassion for the couple, but my goal was to provide them with beautiful and meaningful photos.”
Despite the trials faced, the couple, along with their families and guests, celebrated joyfully, turning the wedding into a unique and unforgettable memory.
