The triumph of the festival underlines Da Nang’s emergence as a premier festival and event destination in Asia.
The DIFF 2024 event, which took place from June 8 to 13, featured teams from various countries such as France, Germany, Italy, the USA, and others. The festival culminated in an impressive finale where Finland reclaimed their title as champions, concluding a month of spectacular performances.
The success of the festival was attributed to extensive planning over a year and the dedication of over 2,000 individuals from Da Nang and Sun Group. Supported financially by Sun Group, DIFF 2024 became one of the largest international fireworks festivals to date.
The Da Nang Department of Tourism reported that accommodations in the city hosted 360,662 guests during the 5-day festival. This included a 12% increase in the number of guests served compared to 2023, with a notable rise in international guests.
Throughout DIFF 2024, over 1.5 million visitors were accommodated in Da Nang, showcasing a substantial increase from the previous year. Additionally, the number of guests utilizing the fireworks viewing services on Da Nang’s boats rose by 11.8% compared to the previous year.
The festival had a significant positive impact on local tourism revenue, contributing to the city’s economy with a remarkable increase in revenue from accommodation, food services, and travel services in June 2024.
The success of DIFF 2024 has been a catalyst for local tourism and has positively influenced various aspects of the socio-economic environment.
Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, highlighted the festival’s substantial impact on the city’s socio-economic development, particularly in the tourism and service sectors, and expressed plans to build on this success in future editions of DIFF.
Da Nang has embraced the summer season with vigor, witnessing increased flights and almost full hotel occupancy rates. In addition to DIFF 2024, the city offers a range of attractions, such as remarkable performances at Sun World Ba Na Hills and vibrant entertainment options in the city center.
Da Nang also hosted prominent international events like the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, the ASEAN Schools Games, and the Asian Golf Championship. The Enjoy Da Nang Festival showcased various activities and marked the city’s first drone technology showcase.
Determined to attract over 8 million overnight visitors in 2024, Da Nang aims to establish itself as a key economic and social center in Vietnam and Southeast Asia by 2030, with strategic investments in tourism and international festivals driving this growth.
Looking ahead, Da Nang’s implementation of special policies and the establishment of Vietnam’s inaugural free trade zone are anticipated to expedite development in alignment with key resolutions. The city aspires to become an eco-smart urban area and a hub for innovation and start-ups by 2045, meeting Asian standards for livability.
