On September 20, the “Hello Cosmo from Vietnam” fashion event was held at Khe Coc Island, located in the picturesque Trang An Complex, Ninh Binh.
This event is part of the Miss Cosmo 2024 pageant, organized by designer Le Thanh Hoa and director Long Kan.
In a beautiful natural setting, 56 contestants from various countries showcased special pieces from Le Thanh Hoa’s Fall-Winter 2024 range, marking the inaugural fashion show in Trang An.
The show commenced with a dramatic entrance by three beauty queens – H’hen Niê, Ngoc Chau, and Xuan Hanh – as they gracefully navigated the waters of Khe Coc on traditional wooden boats.
Designer Le Thanh Hoa explained to VietNamNet that this performance symbolized Vietnam’s warm and heartfelt welcome to international friends.
The showcased collection featured an exciting mix of traditional and modern designs inspired by Vietnamese culture. The outfits encapsulated an enchanting allure that reflects the integration of Vietnam’s rich heritage with contemporary fashion trends.
Le Thanh Hoa pulled inspiration from Vietnam’s traditional craft villages and stunning landscapes, highlighting the nation’s beauty while embracing modern fashion aesthetics.
Out of the 60+ designs, many featured symbols from Vietnam’s countryside such as rice paddies, lotus flowers, and conical hats, presented through a high-fashion perspective.
Le Thanh Hoa emphasized that each piece narrates a story, connecting historical traditions with modernity and maintaining cultural values.
Utilizing a combination of contemporary materials like velvet and chiffon along with traditional Ma Chau silk, Le Thanh Hoa demonstrated expert craftsmanship through draping and quilting techniques, enriching the collection’s presentation.
Other materials, including dyed feathers and pleated organza, were crafted to resemble the textures found in the unique caves and waterfalls of Ninh Binh.
The original design for the floating stage had to be adapted due to local flooding from recent storms. Director Long Kan expressed his disappointment but was satisfied the backup plan met about 70% of their expectations. Le Thanh Hoa remarked that this experience will help them better prepare for future weather-related challenges.
The 56 contestants of Miss Cosmo 2024 captivated the audience with their grace and impressive runway skills. Notable participants hailed from the Philippines, Colombia, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Peru.
This marked the first time in his career that Le Thanh Hoa’s fashion show was exclusively featured by beauty queens instead of professional models. While some contestants initially faced challenges syncing with the collection’s theme, they quickly adapted and delivered outstanding performances.
Following the Ninh Binh showcase, Miss Cosmo 2024 will move to Da Lat, where contestants will present traditional ao dai and engage in cultural activities typical of the Central Highlands. The grand finale is set for October 5 in Ho Chi Minh City.
