PSY to Perform at GENfest 2024
On October 15, popular artist PSY confirmed his performance at the upcoming GENfest music festival, featuring a lineup of renowned talents including Hwasa, Loco, and notable Vietnamese performers like Suboi, Chi Pu, HIEUTHUHAI, and Quang Hung MasterD.
PSY, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, hails from a privileged background but opted for a music career over entering the family business. He kicked off his career in 2001 with his album “PSY from the Psycho World!”
His 2012 track “Gangnam Style” took the world by storm, making history as the first YouTube video to reach a billion views. Remarkably, this iconic music video now boasts over 5 billion views after 12 years.
In addition to “Gangnam Style,” his other popular songs like “Daddy” have also achieved significant milestones, with over 700 million views, while “Gentleman” has crossed the 1 billion mark. PSY launched his own entertainment company in 2018.
Hwasa, known for her fierce confidence and dynamic performances, has hits such as “TWIT” and “Maria.” She was featured in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia in 2021 and ranked as a leading K-pop idol by Gallup Korea in both 2019 and 2020.
Loco stands out as one of South Korea’s foremost hip-hop artists and garnered fame as the winner of the inaugural season of “Show Me the Money.” His popular tracks include “Hold Me Tight,” “Too Much,” “Some,” “It Takes Time,” and “Just Like This,” showcasing his unique performance style.
GENfest 2024, themed “Street in the City,” is set to unfold over two days on November 23 and 24 in Ho Chi Minh City. This festival will also spotlight 15 Vietnamese artists such as Suboi, Chi Pu, Karik, Andree Right Hand, HIEUTHUHAI, Wren Evans, tlinh, Quang Hung MasterD, Duong Domic, Wxrdie, Mono, and Wean, with SlimV as the music director.
Thanh Phi
