Huong’s journey to regain her confidence began when she was a child with a tumor on her face. Despite her parents’ initial hesitation for surgery, the tumor’s growth made it inevitable by the time she turned six.
The successful operation left Huong with a noticeable facial deformity, leading to years of loneliness and being subjected to teasing and hurtful remarks from others.
Being nicknamed “Huong méo” (Crooked Huong) by a classmate during middle school and enduring physical assault due to her appearance only added to her emotional turmoil.
It wasn’t until her final year of high school that Huong began to embrace herself and live more openly in the face of adversity.
In early 2023, Huong took a significant step by applying for a free cosmetic surgery program called “The Transformation Journey,” with overwhelming support from her friends and family.
After securing her spot in the program, Huong eagerly anticipated the surgery that held the promise of transforming her life for the better.
Throughout a series of surgeries over six months, including procedures to enhance her facial features, Huong maintained her determination and stayed positive despite the challenges.
Witnessing her physical transformation day by day brought Huong immense joy and a sense of rebirth.
Reuniting with her family post-surgery, including a touching moment with her grandmother who initially didn’t recognize her, marked a poignant chapter in Huong’s life.
Returning home with her new appearance unexpectedly during a celebration left her family and relatives in tears of happiness and awe.
Embracing her new look, Huong’s outlook on life has shifted to one of brightness, optimism, and newfound confidence.
She now navigates the world without hiding her face and has found comfort in socializing, making friends, and being playfully dubbed as the ‘Miss Universe of the office’ by her colleagues.
Her relationship with her boyfriend, Hoang Minh Duc, has blossomed post-surgery, and together they navigate the world with love and acceptance.
With plans for further personal milestones and celebrations, Huong is grateful for the unwavering support and the newfound courage to embrace herself wholly and beautifully.
