Every Wish Is Received. – My Story

When I was married, my husband and I had very different tastes, including furnishing our home. I enjoy history, which extends to decor, but he detested my vintage items.

In an attempt to compromise, I agreed to let some pieces go that I had owned for a long time. Among them was a camelback trunk, embossed leather suitcases, and a set of blue glass canning jars with zinc lids, some quite old, that I had collected for years.

Our incompatibilities compounded over the years, and we eventually divorced. I regretted giving in to his demands to let go of my precious things, though over time, I came to terms with all the things, except the jars, which were especially sentimental to me.

Not long ago, I visited my parents, and my elderly mother wanted me to take her to some antique shops. While there, I saw an array of old, blue glass canning jars like the ones I used to have. As I stood before them, I realized I could easily purchase some to replace the ones that I had. I had the money, and no one to tell me that I shouldn’t. But I decided at that moment to simply be grateful for my good life, and with a deep breath, released the last of my resentment toward my ex-husband. I told my mother this story on our way home.

The next day, as I was walking on my parent’s country road, I spotted something shiny in the ditch. Curious, I investigated, and to my amazement, sticking up under leaves and weeds, was a blue glass canning jar, fully intact! I took it back to their house and cleaned it up. It isn’t as old as the ones I had, but the lesson was not lost on me.

I brought it home and put fairy lights in it. It sits next to my favorite seat in the family room and serves as lovely, low light when watching TV. I am reminded every time I look at it that the Universe is listening to us, and is prepared to fulfill our needs. I am more conscious of asking for what I want and expressing gratitude for what I have received. Thank you so very much!
