Say Goodbye to Taxi Woes: Complimentary Shuttle Services Launch at Tan Son Nhat Airport

Free Shuttle Buses at Tan Son Nhat Airport for Tet Travelers

Beginning January 23, travelers arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport will have access to complimentary shuttle buses that will take them to a designated taxi waiting area, facilitating smoother transportation during the peak Tet holiday.

The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center, part of the Department of Transport, revealed this shuttle bus service on January 21, aimed at addressing congestion during the busy Tet travel season.

This initiative is intended to ease the long wait times and overcrowded conditions in the airport terminals.

The service will feature two 30-seat buses that will be stationed close to the international terminal. When the passenger volume increases and taxis are in short supply, these buses will help carry travelers to a nearby taxi pickup spot on Hong Ha Street.

This system will enable passengers to catch taxis or rideshare services more conveniently, reducing their wait time in the airport.

The shuttle buses will operate free of charge from January 23 to 27 and February 1 to 5.

To ensure effective operation, the Public Transport Management Center will form a “Rapid Response Shuttle Team,” including participants from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the Southern Airports Authority, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, and local bus companies like Phuong Trang Futabuslines.

This collaborative approach aims to ensure that buses are deployed promptly to handle the large number of passengers efficiently.

During the peak Tet season, Tan Son Nhat Airport anticipates handling over 800 flights each day, with a maximum of 970 flights daily. The airport predicts approximately 26,000 flights and four million passengers during this period, among which 1.5 million are expected to be international travelers and 2.5 million domestic.

On just January 21, the airport recorded 901 flights and over 123,000 passengers, with numbers expected to climb as more individuals travel for Tet festivities.
