On May 14, Tan Son Nhat International Airport revealed a significant update, announcing that the national airline will centralize its full domestic operations at the new terminal. This follows more than 20 days of preliminary service on the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi and Van Don routes from Terminal T3.
This relocation is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving passenger movement and operational effectiveness at one of Vietnam’s most trafficked airports.
The shift was initially set for April 28 but was postponed by Vietnam Airlines to assess logistics and ensure passenger readiness.
As of May 17, all domestic flights by Vietnam Airlines will operate from Terminal T3, with the exception of flights to Con Dao (VCS), Ca Mau (CAH), and Rach Gia (VKG), which will continue to depart from Terminal T1 due to the use of ATR72 aircraft.
Opened on April 19, Terminal T3 comes with a substantial investment of nearly $433 million (around 11 trillion VND). With an annual capacity to handle 20 million passengers, it will boost Tan Son Nhat Airport’s total capacity to 50 million travelers each year.
