On the morning of May 16, Colonel Tran Tien Hien, the head of the Quang Nam Border Guard Command, announced the successful dismantling of a significant drug trafficking operation and the arrest of an individual linked to heroin smuggling from Laos.
At approximately 9:30 AM on May 10, in La Dee Commune, situated in Nam Giang District (Quang Nam), an operation spearheaded by the Anti-Drug and Crime Prevention Division of the Quang Nam Border Guard, in collaboration with the Nam Giang International Border Gate Border Post, the Central Anti-Drug Special Forces Division (part of the Border Guard Command), and the Customs at Nam Giang International Border Gate, led to the capture of T.N.T., a Vietnamese national, as he was transporting heroin from Sekong Province, Laos into Vietnam.
During this operation, authorities confiscated 38 bricks of heroin totaling around 14.3 kilograms, along with a pickup truck utilized for the transport.
As reported by the Quang Nam Border Guard Command, T.N.T. is a well-known criminal figure and a gang leader with a significant history of illegal activities.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.
