By utilizing his mechanical engineering expertise acquired through extensive online research, Luong independently developed and constructed a rotating house. The project, taking four years to complete, resulted in a three-story dwelling that can rotate a full 360 degrees across over 100 square meters.
The standout feature of Luong’s creation lies in its unique technology: it sits on a circular water tank, 14 meters wide, supporting a 500-ton concrete float. This innovative floating foundation enables the house to rotate effortlessly, powered by a small motor with minimal energy consumption.
In 2022, the rotating house design secured an exclusive patent from the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office, highlighting its exceptional nature and potential applications, particularly within the tourism and hospitality industries.
Expressing his desire to license his design, Luong stated, “I envision widespread implementation of my creation, especially in tourist destinations where its distinctive attributes can truly shine.”
While discussions are ongoing with a hotel venture in Quang Ninh considering his design for a 14-story edifice, and with a project in Luong Son, Hoa Binh contemplating a seven-story structure, formal agreements are pending. Although a deposit has been secured from the Luong Son project, Luong remains open to further negotiations based on the project’s scope and specifics.
Regarding the speculations surrounding a potential $1 million deal, Luong clarified, “Such reports are currently just rumors. The actual agreement will hinge on the project’s requirements and my assessment of its feasibility.”
The excitement surrounding Luong’s innovation extends beyond financial gains; it underscores the broader impact on architectural ingenuity and sustainable design practices. His work highlights how individual creativity can significantly contribute to industry standards and community development.
