An official ceremony was held in Hanoi on July 17 to send off the Vietnamese sports delegation to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The delegation consists of a variety of athletes including badminton players, swimmers, archers, judokas, canoeists, rowers, and weightlifters who have qualified for the prestigious event.
A group of five athletes, including shooters, boxers, and a swimmer, are currently training overseas and will join the delegation directly in Paris based on their competition schedules.
Badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh expressed her commitment to compete with sportsmanship and bring honor to Vietnam at the ceremony.
The Vietnamese sports delegation is scheduled to depart for Paris on July 23 with all necessary visa procedures completed for the members.
The Vietnamese sports delegation, consisting of 39 members including athletes and coaches, is headed by Dang Ha Viet, Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, 16 athletes will represent Vietnam in disciplines such as archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, canoeing, cycling, rowing, shooting, swimming, weightlifting, and judo.
Special exemptions were granted to athletes Tran Thi Nhi Yen and Vo Thi My Tien to participate in the Olympics.
The delegation has its sights set on securing medals in shooting, weightlifting, and boxing in the competitive environment of the Olympics, aiming to make a significant impact and bring glory to Vietnam.
