“37 Arrested in Anambra for Alleged Internet Fraud by EFCC”

Following the apprehension of the suspects, the anti-corruption agency seized six high-end vehicles, along with laptops and mobile phones.

An investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has led to the detention of 37 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Awka, Anambra State.

During the operation, the agency recovered six luxury cars, in addition to laptops and mobile devices from the suspects.

This information was disclosed through a statement on the agency’s X handle on Wednesday, January 22.

The agency’s announcement emphasized, “Operatives from the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the EFCC have taken into custody 37 suspected internet fraudsters.”

These suspects, all male, were intercepted in a covert operation at Commissioners’ Quarters on Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close in Ifite, Awka, based on reliable intelligence regarding their involvement in fraudulent online activities.

Items confiscated included six luxury vehicles, laptops, and mobile phones.

Once investigations are finalized, legal proceedings will be initiated against the suspects.
