The rate of celebrity divorce is reason why young people are scared of the union called marriage. Most celebrity marriage end so brutally and can sometimes results in scandal with both parties calling themselves out on Instagram. 7. Tonto Dikeh
Nollywood actress Tonto whose marriage to Olawale Churchill ended in 2016 claimed her union with Churchill ‘was all a sham. The two were traditionally married in August 2015 and have a son together. The mother of one alleged that she treated so many sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s) while being married to Churchill. The duo have been in a war of words on the social media, with Churchill demanding for exclusive access to his son.
6. Tiwa Savage
Singer Tiwa Savage and Teebillz are also top of the list. According to some reports, Teebillz filed for divorce, while other sources claim that it was Tiwa who sought to end the marriage. The couple fell out in April 2016 when Teebillz attempted to commit suicide by reportedly making attempt to jump into the Lagos lagoon. Shortly before then, he had launched a tirade on social media, accusing Tiwa of cheating on him with several persons such as 2face Idibia, Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid among others. On her part, Tiwa debunked his claims, saying the artistes’ manager was a drug addict and equally accused the husband of cheating on her.
5. Chika Ike
Nollywood actress and businesswoman, Chika Ike, was formerly married to Tony Eberiri. Their marriage lasted from 2006 to 2013. She alleged regretted getting married at the time that she had, and it had led to the tragic end of the union. It was alleged that the marriage ended because of domestic violence.
4. Toke Makinwa
Toke Makinwa, vlogger and tv host is a divorced young lady living her best life. She got married to her longtime partner Maje Ayida in 2014 and the marriage crashed in barely 2 years. After walking out of her marriage over infidelity issues,Toke Makinwa became an advocate for female independence among other feminism related issues and she proceeded to tell her story in a book titled “On Becoming”.
3. Ini Edo
Nollywood actress, Ini Edo married her American-based Nigerian businessman ex-husband, Philip Ehiagwina in 2008. It was said that Philip before his marriage to Ini was previously married to a Nigerian-American model, Ruth Okoro. It was even alleged that her inability to conceive after three years of marriage may also be mounting pressure on her relationship as it is suspected that the husband’s family has started raising eyebrows. Her failure to have an issue was initially said to be due to Ini Edo’s work and the husband residing abroad but three years down the line, tongues have started wagging and this may be having its own effect on the actress, following accusations of domestic violence and cheating, walked out of the marriage.
2. Mercy Aigbe
Social media will not forget the drama that played out between Mercy Aigbe and her husband Lanre Gentry in a hurry. The details that led to the failure of her seven-year-old marriage was said to be domestic violence, the husband however came out and told the world that he is innocent of all claims. Although there were speculation of infidelity on both part. According to Mercy, she is not fully divorced from her husband.

Fitness enthusiast and Nollywood star, Kate, was married to Roderick James Nuttal. The couple were married for 12 years before the union crumbled in 2011. Although, it has been claimed that work ethics and tight schedules of star actress Kate Henshaw and her spouse Roderick contributed heavily to the crash of their marriage, many are however laying the blame on gossip and alleged dalliance of the star actress which her enemies peddled to her husband. Reports have it that the divorce was as a result of several cases of infidelity against Kate by her husband.
