The Senate has officially confirmed Abdullahi Bello as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau in accordance with section 154 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
Following the submission of a report by Sen. Imasuen, Neda Bernards (Edo South), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, Bello’s appointment was ratified on Thursday.
Bello’s confirmation process started when he was nominated by President Bola Tinubu in March, and subsequently screened by the Senate on Tuesday.
During his appearance before the committee, Bello expressed his commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability within the public and civil service in Nigeria.
With a diverse background spanning over 25 years in consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia, Bello brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Upon Bello’s appointment, Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale stated that the President expects the new Chairman to lead the Bureau with integrity and ensure that public officials adhere to the highest ethical and accountability standards in government operations.
