Olumide Akpata, the candidate from the Labour Party for the gubernatorial election, faced defeat in his own polling location.
In the race for Edo State’s top position, Akpata competed against prominent candidates Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP emerged victorious in Akpata’s polling unit, receiving 41 votes, while Akpata garnered 31 votes. The APC trailed with a total of 19 votes.

After voting, Akpata described the process as “seamless” and expressed hope that all voters in the state would have a similarly smooth experience.
