Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is celebrating 49 years on the throne as Alaafin of Oyo.
This day in history, 14th of January, 1971, I His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, Iku Baba Yeye, ascended the throne as the 43rd Alaafin of Oyo.
Expressing excitement, the monarch stated that “it has been 49 eventful years. I thank Olodumare, Ayabas, good people of Oyo and everyone who have passed on to the great beyond and living for having stood by me all these years, my prayer is that Olodumare will continue to bless you all”.
This is coming just a day after he conferred the title of Mayegun of Yorubaland on Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal K1.

The installation which is taking place today , January 13, 2020, has in attendance fellow celebrities and well-wishers.
The title of Mayegun of Yorubaland is being conferred on K1 by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. he becomes the first to hold the title in Yorubaland.
One of those who have congratulated K1 on social media is Lagos NURTW boss Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC.
He wrote: “I Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya “Mc Oluomo”, On behalf of NURTW Lagos State Council Facilitates with King Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal “KWAM 1” as the first Mayegun of Yoruba land.
