Allied Air Cargo Plane Emergency Landing at Abuja Airport
A cargo aircraft from Allied Air made an emergency landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja on Wednesday.
Reports from DailyPost indicate that the incident was caused by a malfunction in one of the landing gears of the plane.
According to Zagazola Makama, a specialist in counterterrorism in the Lake Chad region, the aircraft was carrying a crew of six at the time.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as all crew members were safely evacuated after the incident.
Currently, the crew is receiving medical evaluations at the Nigerian Air Force medical facility.
“Emergency personnel quickly secured the area around the crash site, with oversight from the Military Airport Commandant and other officials,” he noted.
“This incident has caused a temporary halt to airport runway operations, resulting in considerable delays for flights. Passengers and airlines are encouraged to prepare for interruptions until further updates are provided.”
“Airport authorities, along with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), are working to clear the aircraft and assess the runway for any damage. They aim to resume normal activities as soon as possible.”
“More information will be shared as the inquiry into this occurrence progresses,” Makama added.
