The renowned Fuji musician from Atlanta, Richard Olorunrokan Adekola, known as King Rokan, has sadly passed away.

This news was shared by his friend Ayo Shonaiya on Instagram.

In the post, Shonaiya highlighted their past interactions and described King Rokan as a father figure, a dear friend, and a brother.

He expressed:

“Rest in Peace KING ROKAN

This loss is felt deeply within the Nigerian community in Atlanta, as we mourn a beloved member who left us over the weekend. The entertainment scene, especially for Fuji and Juju artists in Atlanta, has lost a significant friend and colleague. He was the one who welcomed me warmly when I first arrived in Atlanta.”

“When he debuted his music in Nigeria back in 2004, I had the privilege of taking him to Eko FM for an on-air interview. He always believed in the global potential of Fuji music. I had planned a surprise for him, featuring a clip where he passionately spoke about Fuji music over 20 years ago in my documentary. I’m heartbroken he didn’t get to see it.”

Richard Olorunrokan Adekola, also known as King Rokan (Oluaye of Georgia) – a Fuji artist, a father, a friend, and a brother. Rest in Peace, my friend. Your legacy will always be remembered in ATLANTA.”
