Jude Nnam, a well-known composer of Christian music in Nigeria, has been reported kidnapped.
He was taken around 6 p.m. on Thursday in Umunnachi, Anambra State, where he had gone for a church event.
The distressing news was announced on social media by Rev Fr Augustine Mario, who urged followers to pray for Nnam.
“Please keep Sir Dr. Jude Nnam (Ancestor) in your prayers.
He was reportedly kidnapped yesterday evening around 6 p.m. in Umunnachi, Anambra State.
“Sir Jude Nnam holds the position of CAN National Music Director and is a member of the National Liturgical Commission, CSN, among other roles.
“I pray for his safety and a swift return from his captors. Amen.”

Another cleric echoed the confirmation of Nnam’s abduction on his Facebook, expressing deep frustration about the situation in Nigeria.
“If this is accurate, it reflects a great sadness. I’m exhausted by this unfortunate reality in Nigeria.
Why must we endure such turmoil and distress now?
I truly hope this is not factual.
Jude Nnam, Ancestor!
It shall be well. Fada Mentor.”
The acclaimed musician recently marked his 50th birthday and had participated in the ‘Unusual Praise 2024’ event at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, the previous week.
