Biafra Exile Government Writes to Canadian Authorities in Defense of Amaka Sunnberger

Ekpa Led BRGIE Writes Canada Defends Amaka Sunnberger (via Primetweets)

The leader of the Biafra Government in Exile, Simom Ekpa, has written a letter to the Canadian Government supporting Amaka Sunnberger amidst calls for her prosecution following a controversial video threatening Yoruba and Bini people.

Amaka Sunnberger faced backlash after a video she posted on TikTok went viral, containing threats against the Yoruba and Edo communities.

In reaction to this, the Nigerian government, through the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) led by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, urged the Mayor of Brampton to take legal action against Sunnberger over her statements.

Expressing his commitment to defend Sunnberger, Ekpa, the Prime Minister of BRGIE, had promised to support her cause.

In a move to uphold his promise, Dr. Joy Robi, the Director General of the Biafra Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has drafted and sent a letter addressing the Mayor of Brampton, Canada.

The detailed three-page letter posted on Ekpa’s official X handle on Friday expressed concerns regarding what Ekpa labeled as inaccuracies and potential misunderstandings presented by NiDCOM regarding Sunnberger.

The letter highlighted instances of violent rhetoric by certain individuals within Nigeria towards Biafrans, which did not prompt prosecution by the government.

The Biafra Government revealed information regarding an incident where Mrs. Amaka Patience Sunnberger’s child was almost kidnapped in Canada by two individuals, leading to her trauma.

The letter also emphasized the hardships faced by Biafrans, especially the Igbo community, due to consistent threats and mental distress, suggesting that Sunnberger’s remarks might have been influenced by these circumstances.

Ekpa’s correspondence urged authorities to dismiss the allegations against Sunnberger, portraying her as a victim of mental anguish caused by ongoing tribulations faced by Biafrans in Nigeria.

The letter concluded by requesting Canadian officials to overlook NiDCOM’s claims, support Sunnberger, and allow her to continue positively contributing to the Canadian community.

The Biafra government affirmed its commitment to protect Sunnberger from any actions proposed by NiDCOM.
