Bosch renewed for a seventh and final season at Amazon

Ahead of Bosch’s return for its upcoming sixth season later this year, Amazon Prime has officially renewed their long-running police procedural series for a seventh and final season. Based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novel series, the Titus Welliver-led drama was one of Amazon’s first original drama series which debuted in 2014.

“I’m proud of what we have accomplished with Bosch and look forward to completing the story in Season 7. It’s bittersweet, but all good things come to an end, and I am happy that we will be able to go out the way we want to,” Connelly said (via Deadline).

“This started seven years ago with showrunner Eric Overmyer and me writing the pilot,” Connelly continued. “We plan to write the last episode together as well. We’ll leave behind the longest-running show so far on Amazon and it will be there to be discovered by new viewers for as long as people are streaming. That is amazing to me. The other thing is that we would not have come all this way without Titus Welliver. There could not have been a better actor to play this role or a better team player to build this show around. He’ll be Harry Bosch for the ages.”

The final season will be inspired by Conelly’s 1994 The Concrete Blonde novel and the 2014 The Burning Room novel which will follow Welliver’ Harry Bosch and Jamie Hector’s Jerry Edgar as their separately investigate two murder cases that will take them to the highest levels of white-collar crime and the deadly depths of the street-level drug trade.

In Season 5, set fifteen months after bringing his mother’s killer to justice, Bosch finds himself seeking the truth on two fronts. New evidence in an old case leaves everyone wondering whether Bosch planted evidence to convict the wrong guy. And a murder at a Hollywood pharmacy exposes a sophisticated opioid pill mill, sending Bosch down a dark and perilous path in pursuit of the killers.

Bosch is based from Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels, the hour-long series stars Welliver as homicide Detective Harry Bosch with Jamie Hector (The Wire) as Jerry Edgar, Amy Aquino (Being Human) as Lt. Grace Billets, Madison Lintz (The Walking Dead) as Maddie Bosch, and Lance Reddick (The Wire) as Deputy Chief Irvin Irving. Last season also included Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) as Hector Bonner and Chris Vance (The Transporter TV series) as Dalton Walsh.
