An incredibly shocking event has taken place in Warri, Delta State, where an unnamed butcher has reportedly killed his wife with a knife. The incident happened yesterday evening and is now being investigated by the police, who have taken the suspect into custody.
According to reports, the man had returned from the market where he works as a butcher and was attempting to scoop hot water from the fire to bathe. His wife, however, refused and asked him not to touch the gas, citing that he does not give them money for upkeep or to fill the gas at home. The man disregarded her and proceeded to take the hot water, leading to a fight between the couple.
During the altercation, the wife grabbed a knife and tried to stab her husband, who then overpowered her and used the same knife to stab her multiple times until she collapsed. He then took her to a private hospital and lied that she had been in a terrible accident.
The daughter of the couple heard of the incident and reported it to the police station, resulting in the arrest of the suspect. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the news in a phone call with a correspondent in Warri, simply saying “confirmed”.
