Casey and Corey Cott’s sister Carly posted on their Charity: Water campaign page why the family chose this specific organization. She wrote, “The need for clean water is more prevalent today than ever before. Washing hands is the first defense against the Coronavirus. In many parts of the world, washing hands with clean water is not an option.”
The Riverdale star‘s sister added, “Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.” After seeing fans had helped raise thousands of dollars above their initial $10,000 goal, Casey posted a picture of their final cuts on Instagram and captioned it, “You guys are epic. Link in bio to keep donating!”
Charity: Water is sending 100% of the money raised to build clean water projects and then sends photos and GPS coordinates to donors, so they can see the community that they helped. The organization writes that clean water “can improve health, increase access to food, grow local economies, and help kids spend more time in school,” things that are essential whether there is a global health pandemic or not.
