The Nigeria Customs Service has taken action following the release of a video showing officers mistreating civilians.

The Seme Border Command has identified individuals involved in the incident contained in the viral footage.

Earlier, the Command initiated an investigation into the reported abuse by certain officers.

In a statement by Hussain Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, it was revealed that two officers were identified: Superintendent of Customs TA Inemugha and Assistant Superintendent of Customs II GO Aboribo.

“Both officers have been arrested and are now being transferred to the Customs Police Unit for further investigation,” the statement detailed.

Abdullahi emphasized that the actions of the officers contradict the principles of professionalism and integrity upheld by the Service.

“The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has condemned their actions and has ordered their transfer to the NCS Headquarters for an in-depth investigation and necessary disciplinary measures,” he added.

“He also invited those affected to come forward and assist in this ongoing inquiry.”

“The Service remains dedicated to maintaining transparency in its operations and will not accept any form of misconduct among its personnel, prioritizing the public’s welfare,” the statement continued.
