“Defiant Against the Shadows: My Stand Against NSA Pursuers”

El-Rufai Claims Plot Against Him

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna state, has raised concerns about alleged schemes by his political adversaries to arrest and mistreat him, particularly in connection with the National Security Adviser (NSA) office, which has seen similar claims regarding former Central Bank governor Godwin Emefiele.

He emphasized that he would not back down in the face of these threats.

El-Rufai’s associates and family have also reportedly been targeted with intimidation tactics.

In a statement shared on the X platform, he spoke about the intent of his rivals to drive him into self-imposed exile, a scenario he firmly rejects.

He has decided to pause his educational pursuits and dedicate more time to staying in Nigeria in light of the challenges posed by his opponents.

The remarks came after a caution from his ally, Imran Wakili, about possible arrest upon his return to Nigeria.

El-Rufai asserted that his only fear is Allah, having previously faced detainment multiple times and continuing to move forward, as he believes that silence is no longer acceptable.

In his full statement titled ‘DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY. WHAT WILL BE WILL BE,’ he addressed Imran directly:

“Dear Imran @IU_Wakilii,

“I’ve been hearing similar rumors of being arrested, detained, and tortured since July 2024, coinciding with the emerging report from the Kaduna Assembly.

“Their worries escalated when we legally challenged their slander, which they attempted to manipulate in court. This discrimination continues at the Court of Appeal.

“Numerous threats have been relayed to my friends and family, intending to coerce me into exile. I refuse to submit to such pressure.

“I have halted my educational plans and am committed to spending more time in Nigeria. It’s crucial to remain vocal and active.

“Arrests and mistreatment of politicians are historic events. I have endured arrest for my political opinions multiple times in the past.

“There is life beyond imprisonment, and political dynamics continue to evolve. As for death, it is in Allah’s hands, and we all face that certainty.

“To those who fret when I’m in Nigeria, be aware that I plan to return for the launch of Pres IBB’s memoirs on February 20, in sha Allah.

“Our reliance is solely on Allah. We fear only Allah, maintaining hope for the best while preparing for the worst.

“Thank you @IU_Wakilii for your concern, but remember that whatever is destined will happen.”
