The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared an extension of voting hours in areas where the polls began later than scheduled.
This announcement was made by Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner, during a statement on Saturday.
Haruna explained that the decision to extend voting was made due to delays experienced in some regions.
According to Daily Post, the elections faced delays in parts of the state attributed to weather conditions and logistical issues.
“Our reports show that while many polling units started voting on time, some experienced late starts,” he stated.
“To guarantee that all voters have the opportunity to cast their ballots, the Commission emphasizes that in accordance with our Regulations and Guidelines, any polling station that began voting late will continue the process until every voter in line, who arrived before 2:30 PM, has voted,” part of the statement indicated.
