Enugu State Police Command shared the news of detaining 123 suspects in July and August.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, unveiled this information while presenting some suspects at the state command headquarters.

Several incriminating items were found during the police operations, resulting in multiple suspects being arraigned in court and remanded in custody.

A summary revealed that besides the arrests, 19 kidnapped individuals were saved.

The report detailed the recovery of various arms, including 15 AK-47 and assault rifles, 25 pump-action guns, 35 other firearms, 710 live ammunition, 187 cartridges, 17 vehicles, 11 tricycles, and 8 motorcycles.

The CP addressed false rumors of kidnappings near the Enugu State College of Health Technology and thwarted a secessionist group’s attempt to attack police operatives.

Uzuegbu appreciated the Enugu State Government for demolishing structures used for criminal activities and warned against harboring criminals.

Further arrests included the recovery of an AK-47 rifle in New Artisan, Enugu, and busting a kidnapping gang hideout, leading to five arrests.

Operations against an outlawed group in Emene, Enugu, resulted in two fatalities and the recovery of firearms.

In Awkunanaw, four armed robbery suspects were apprehended, while three individuals were arrested for suspected stolen property.

The suspects faced charges ranging from murder to theft, with the police chief urging citizens to support law enforcement efforts.
