A 28-year-old named Olayinka Oluwaseyi has been detained by officers from the Ketu Division of the Lagos state police.
He was apprehended for trying to rob a driver on Mile 12 Bridge while armed with two knives on May 13, 2025, around 1:30 am.
The rapid response of the patrol team led to his quick capture.
Another person involved in the attempted theft remains at large, with efforts underway to locate him.
According to police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, an initial investigation revealed that Oluwaseyi had been released from prison just three months prior for a similar offense.
Currently in police custody, he will face court proceedings once the inquiries are complete.
Lagos State Police Commissioner CP Olohundare Jimoh commended the alertness and professionalism exhibited by the Ketu Division officers. He emphasized the police force’s commitment to combating all types of crime, particularly traffic-related robberies, assuring the public of their dedication to maintaining safety.
Commissioner Jimoh also encouraged citizens to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
