After spending time volunteering in the Calais Jungle the filmmakers wanted to be truthful to the refugee experience, avoiding any cinematic bells and whistles and leaving The Flood intentionally understated and unembellished. The filmmakers researched heavily, basing the script on actual stories and interviews with ex-Home Office officials. The result is one of the few feature films that explore what’s happening every day at our borders.
