Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), raised concerns regarding the treatment of Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima by the Tinubu administration.
He stated that this prominent political figure has been relegated to the role of simply attending weddings and funerals, lamenting, “This is disheartening, unfortunate, and intolerable….”
Once associated with the nPDP, Eze expressed confusion about why President Tinubu has not designated Vice President Shettima to take over leadership when he leaves the country.
He cautioned that the vice presidency is a prestigious role that should not be compromised for political convenience.
“While I do not align myself with Vice President Kashim Shettima, as a concerned citizen, I find it troubling how this esteemed politician is being regarded and how he has been reduced to merely attending social events like weddings and burials. This is disheartening and unacceptable.
“Although he may not openly voice his frustrations, the reality is that throughout his tenure as Vice President over the past two years and given the numerous trips made by President Tinubu, he has yet to empower the Vice President with acting authority.
“This behavior is not just condemnable; it also contradicts the principles and guidelines set out in our country’s Constitution,” Eze noted.
