Funeral activities commenced on Thursday with a Service of Songs at Mogadishu Cantonment, attended by prominent figures from various security sectors.

During this tribute, Maj.-Gen. Kelvin Aligbe, who leads the Training and Doctrine Command, honored Lagbaja as an extraordinary leader.

Aligbe, representing the 39 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, emphasized that Lagbaja showcased remarkable leadership from the beginning of his career.

“He was a natural leader who showed unparalleled dedication and service. To honor his memory, we should embrace the principles he advocated – national unity and service to the country. He devoted himself fully, and I hope we did enough to show our appreciation,” Aligbe stated.

In her remarks, Bilikisu Ibrahim from the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association spoke of Lagbaja’s unwavering faith and dedication.

“For those he served, he was a pillar of strength, a guardian amid turmoil and danger. Beyond his military obligations, he was deeply spiritual, drawing resilience from his faith to face life’s greatest challenges,” she expressed.
