Former Kogi Gov, Yahaya Bello To Be Arraigned Today In Abuja

Former Kogi Governor Faces N82 Billion Fraud Charges

The former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello is scheduled to appear in the Federal High Court in Abuja today, July 27, to answer charges of alleged N82 billion fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) representing the federal government will be prosecuting Bello.

This arraignment is listed as number 7 on Justice Emeka Nwite’s cause list.

It remains uncertain if Bello will show up for the arraignment as promised.

At present, legal representatives from both the EFCC and Bello’s team are present in court, but the defendant is absent.

Previously, Bello had failed to appear in court on four occasions, citing biases from the anti-graft agency as reasons.

The arraignment today will be managed by Kemi Pinheiro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), for the EFCC, while the defense team will be headed by Adeola Adedipe, another SAN.

The case titled “Federal Republic of Nigeria Versus Yahaya Bello” is referenced as HC/ABJ/CR/98/2024.
