Elder Washima Erukaa, a former chairman of Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government area of Benue State, has been killed by his abductors.
Erukaa was abducted by gunmen on the 23rd of September, in his Zakibiam residence, Ukum Local Government area of Benue state.
His kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N12 million for his release but subsequently reduced it to N5 million.
However, it was gathered that the 80-year-old man was later killed and has since been buried by his abductors.
A family source quoted by The Nation said the kidnappers informed them that Erukaa, died in the hands of his captors and has since been buried.
The source said: “One of the abductors informed a member of the family that Erukaa died since and they buried him so they will not deceive us into paying ransom.
“His abductors first demanded N12million ransom but subsequently reduced it to N5million.”
The spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, SP Kate Aneene, is yet to confirm the killing of Elder Erukaa.
