Kofi Akpaloo, a presidential candidate for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) in the upcoming 2024 elections, has sparked controversy with his recent statements concerning his daughter’s future marriage.
In a recent interview, Akpaloo disclosed that he would only consent to his daughter’s marriage if the potential suitor can impregnate her before the wedding.
His stipulation is motivated by a desire to shield his daughter from the stress and potential societal stigma that could arise from infertility issues post-marriage.
Akpaloo stressed that while infertility may not be his daughter’s fault, societal norms often place blame on women in cases where couples struggle to conceive.
During the interview, Akpaloo unequivocally stated, “I’m not preventing any man from marrying my daughter, but the sole requirement is that the man must impregnate her first.”
He also expressed a preference for his daughter to have a child prior to tying the knot to preempt any future challenges.
When pressed by the interviewer to reconsider his stance, Akpaloo stood firm in his decision, insisting that any suitor must meet this condition to be considered.
