Governor Fintiri Enacts New Legislation in Adamawa State
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially enacted five new laws following their approval by the state’s House of Assembly.
The newly signed laws are: the Adamawa State Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Services Law 2024, the Adamawa State Health Supplies Management Agency Law 2024, the Teachers Service Commission Law 2024, the Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Ganye Law 2024, and the Adamawa State College of Nursing Sciences Law 2024.
Governor Fintiri expressed that these legislative measures aim to foster a more prosperous and resilient future for Adamawa State. He stated, “These laws will significantly improve water sanitation, healthcare resources, education, and professional standards in various sectors.”
The Adamawa State Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Services Law 2024 will involve several state departments, including the regulatory commission, private sector partners, and the water corporation.
Furthermore, the Adamawa State Health Supplies Management Agency Law 2024 replaces the outdated State Essential Drugs Programme Edict from 1996.
Additionally, the new Teachers Service Commission Law 2024 establishes a dedicated commission for teachers in Adamawa State.
The College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Ganye Law 2024 cancels the earlier 2016 law governing the college, while the College of Nursing Sciences Law 2024 supersedes the 2017 law related to nursing and midwifery in the state.
The Governor called on all stakeholders to actively participate in the implementation of these laws to enhance public service efficiency, stating, “Together, we can strengthen Adamawa!”
