Gunfire Erupts in Wike’s Neighborhood

Gunfire has erupted in the Rumuepirikom neighborhood, home to Chief Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, according to a report by Vanguard.

Local sources indicated that earlier in the day, some individuals warned residents to stay indoors and not participate in the voting process.

As electoral officers were nearing the ward in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, armed individuals descended on the community.

The assailants opened fire, causing panic and preventing citizens from exercising their voting rights.

Reports also state that one individual was injured by gunfire and was taken to a medical facility for care.
