A disturbing video has surfaced, capturing the harrowing moment when a Jeju Air flight, carrying 181 individuals, crashed and burst into flames on the runway early Sunday in Muan, South Korea, about 290 kilometers from Seoul.
The aircraft had just come in from Bangkok, Thailand, and the catastrophic incident resulted in 179 fatalities.
Initial investigations reveal that the plane skidded off the runway and collided with a concrete barrier, likely due to a malfunction in the front landing gear.
Lee Jeong-hyeon, the chief of Muan Fire Station, reported that the plane was completely destroyed, with little remaining apart from its tail section.
This disaster occurs amid a backdrop of political instability in South Korea, with recent impeachments of both the president and acting president in just the last two weeks.
