Professor Yakubu and his team, which included several National Commissioners from INEC, toured Egor LGA, where Mr. Boma Bamson, the Executive Officer, showed them the office facilities and the non-sensitive election materials.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, inspected the storage facilities for non-sensitive materials in four Local Government Areas of Edo State on Tuesday, in preparation for the forthcoming off-cycle governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

His initial stop was at the INEC office in Ikpoba-Okha LGA, where he toured the storage area along with the Commission’s State Electoral Officer, Mr. James Gamble, who addressed Yakubu’s inquiries regarding local election readiness.

Content with the conditions he observed, Yakubu, accompanied by INEC National Commissioners and senior management, proceeded to Egor LGA, where they were shown around the office and the non-sensitive materials by Mr. Boma Bamson.

Yakubu plans to visit the INEC offices in Ikpoba-Okha, Egor, Oredo, and Ovia North East during this inspection period.

Additionally, he will check the mock accreditation processes at Western Boys High School 1 and India College II.
