Arrest of Notorious Kidnapper in Kwara State

The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended a known interstate kidnapper, Mohammed Bello, also referred to as Dandolo.

Bello was captured in Patigi Local Government Area on December 10, 2024. The police made the announcement through spokesperson Ejire-Adeyemi Toun on December 12.

The arrest was made possible due to actionable intelligence received from Egbe, Kogi State, regarding Bello’s whereabouts.

Reports indicate that Bello is linked to numerous kidnappings occurring in both Kwara and Kogi states, including incidents along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The police statement noted: “Our force, guided by Commissioner of Police CP Victor Olaiya, has effectively detained Mohammed Bello, known as ‘DANDOLO’, after receiving credible tips that he had relocated to Patigi to avoid capture.”

“He is believed to be responsible for several kidnapping cases in Egbe, Isanlu, and nearby regions in Kogi.”

Once the police had the information, they quickly mobilized a surveillance team to follow Bello’s activities. They conducted extensive searches across different locations, including hotels, and ultimately found him at a secret spot.

This operation involved collaboration with the Nigerian Army Forward Operation Base in Egbe, under the command of Lieutenant Isah.

“Bello has been moved to the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ilorin for additional inquiries,” the announcement also stated.

The Commissioner emphasized that a careful and comprehensive investigation will be pursued to ensure justice is served, stating,

“The Command is dedicated to maintaining security for all residents in Kwara State and its surroundings.”

The police also thanked the community and security partners for their support and prompt action regarding this issue.

“Bello has admitted to several kidnapping activities along the Omu-Aran-Ilofa-Osi-Eruku-Egbe road in Kwara, as well as along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway,” the statement concluded.

“We urge the public to keep providing timely information to help fight crime in the region.”
