Jasmine Okekeagwu, who is believed to be the adopted daughter of the late actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, clarified that despite the conflicts with the family during the actor’s final days and after his passing, she has not completely distanced herself from them.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she mentioned, “I won’t say I cut ties with them entirely. I am simply focusing on myself and avoiding unnecessary trouble.”

She described her interactions with the family as acts of goodwill and charity.

“It is my way of giving back. Even the support I provided to them (Ibu family) is more of a charitable gesture, because when someone not related steps in for years to ensure everything is okay, that’s charity. However, they misunderstood my intentions initially, as they solely focused on what I could provide and gain from me. Now, I believe it’s more rewarding to aid those who may not have anything to offer. That is where the true blessings lie,” she explained.

Jasmine mentioned her long-standing involvement in charitable initiatives.

She expressed, “I have been involved in this for a considerable time, even during my time with daddy (Mr Ibu). Since 2020, I have been engaged in personal charity work. Witnessing my mother assist others while growing up instilled in me a love for humanity.”

After Mr Ibu’s demise, Jasmine intensified her philanthropic endeavors, which brought her a sense of fulfillment. She revealed, “I’ve come to realize that helping others is my source of joy. It brings me peace and fulfillment. I feel like I am living out my purpose now.”

She also mentioned that her commitment to charitable causes has reduced her availability for acting roles compared to before.
