Joe Igbokwe, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced his concerns regarding alleged exploitation by domestic airlines.

His remarks came in light of a recent exchange between Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace on Wednesday, where he mentioned that he had faced similar issues with the airline.

During the incident, Oshiomhole accused Air Peace of systematically attempting to extract money from unsuspecting travelers.

The airline, in response, stated that the senator had disrupted operations at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall). Oshiomhole alleged that he and fellow passengers were unexpectedly denied boarding for a Lagos to Abuja flight, despite having completed online check-in.

He further noted that some individuals who had bought tickets online were barred from boarding, while others who paid extra for emergency service were permitted to board.

The senator recounted, “I arrived at the airport with my ticket but was denied. Upon recognizing me, a senior manager approached and offered to assist. However, I declined any personal favors.”

Igbokwe responded to the incident through a Facebook post, indicating that such occurrences have been a persistent issue over the years.

He stated, “We are too complacent in this country. What Senator Adams Oshiomhole uncovered has been a recurring issue for years.”

“I have also been a victim and publicly shared my experience during my journey to Enugu.”
