John Krasinski has been attached to the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards — via fan commentary on discussion boards and social media — since the Fox/Disney merger placed the character under Disney’s umbrella. With the Fantastic Four coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kevin Feige and Co. can rewrite their story once more. Hopefully, those in charge bring more success to the family of explorers than Fox did via some misguided interpretations of the comic book material.
Yet, what was once wishful thinking — a pipedream floating in the internet abyss — may soon become a reality. Recent reports suggest that John Krasinski has met with Marvel Studios, theoretically to discuss a role in the Fantastic Four reboot. However, could it be that John Krasinski will be more than just the film’s actor? Could Fiege be reaching out to the Jack Ryan star and the A Quiet Place director/writer to work behind the scenes as well?
According to Marvel and DC insider Mikey Sutton, the studio has major plans for John Krasinski — beyond simply squeezing into some spandex and stretching his limbs to infinity via CGI. So, what’s the plan for Krasinski?
John Krasinski may be the creative vision behind the MCU’s ‘Fantastic Four’
According to Mikey Sutton, who took to Geekosity: All Things Pop Culture to share his latest intel, Kevin Feige has plans for Krasinski in the MCU landscape — plans to use his various talents. Sutton shared:
Marvel Studios is apparently interested in Krasinski beyond his acting abilities. They are considering him to direct (and possibly also write) the Fantastic Four movie. For now, though, the focus is on nailing down Krasinski for Reed Richards and having him debut in Doctor Strange 2 with the rest of the Illuminati.

Is Marvel Studios trying to convince Krasinski to sign the lengthy contract via an opportunity to write and direct?
According to Sutton, Reed Richards will make his first appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as a member of Strange’s Illuminati — a group assembled to battle threats the Avengers are not prepped to handle. One of the group’s other famous members: Professor X of the X-Men. Meaning, Doctor Strange 2 could provide a doorway to both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.
Initially, Krasinski will just act; yet, since Krasinski is currently flexing his muscles as a director and writer, Feige may have offered him the directorial gig as a way to get the actor to sign on to such an extended contract.
Following A Quiet Place’s success, the actor has begun to make a name for himself outside the acting realm. And, if he wishes to continue diversifying his portfolio on the behind-the-scenes side of creativity, what better way to gain exposure than to write and direct movie(s) destined to be seen by billions worldwide? Writing and directing a series of Marvel movies seems like a pretty good deal for Krasinski; he merely has to exchange years of his time and devotion to the landscape.
