It’s definitely his world. After a chaotic year involving getting married, advocating for mental health awareness, and sharing all of it on social media, Justin Bieber has finally given fans what they’ve been asking for: A preview of his upcoming music. Read on to learn more.
Justin Bieber hasn’t released an album since 2015
Bieber has taken some time off since his last album, 2015’s Purpose. He’s released a total of four albums altogether, including his debut My World 2.0 in 2010.
In the years since purposed, he has released several notable collabs. At Coachella in 2019, he told fans that his fifth album was coming. Also this year, he did collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Billie Eilish.
The artist took a hiatus for health reasons
Though he’s clearly continuing to work, it has been quite a while since we’ve gotten new material from Bieber alone. He spoke on this earlier in the year in an Instagram post, writing about his mental health, marriage to Hailey Bieber, and even potential family.
“I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do, I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be,” Bieber wrote.
He teased an upcoming release
So 2018 and 2019 were years in which Bieber focused on his home life. He even accumulated a few new pets. But it looks like 2020 is going to bring a lot of new and exciting things for the artist in regards to his career.
Bieber mysteriously teased three dates on his Instagram in Dec. 2019: Dec. 24, Dec. 31, and Jan. 3 (2020, we presume). On Dec. 23, 2019, he continued to share more posts with these dates, including a photo of the word “tomorrow.”
Here’s what happened on Dec. 24
On Dec. 24, 2019, we finally got our answer as to what Bieber had been teasing. As it turns out, the first date was when he chose to drop a short video, #BIEBER2020, that reveals his coming plans.
In the video, Bieber said, “As humans, we are imperfect. My past, my mistakes, all the things that I’ve been through; I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be, and God has me right where he wants me.”
What do the last two dates mean?
Bieber continued, talking about his upcoming fifth album. “I feel like this is different than the previous albums just because of where I’m at in my life,” he said over a snippet of a new song. “I’m excited to perform it and tour it,” he added, revealing a long list of U.S. tour dates beginning in May 2020.
He also revealed that a docuseries is on the way. Bieber’s first single off the new album is titled “Yummy,” and that’s where the Jan. 3 date comes in. He didn’t reveal what’s coming on Dec. 31, though, so check back in at Showbiz Cheat Sheet, because we have a feeling it will be another video post or tease about what’s to come.
